Semifinals had Rayco defeat Warner Insurance 59-35 and Elco Electric defeat Clean All 74-50.  So the finals will be Elco vs. Rayco Saturday at 4:00.

Playoff schedule (with changes!) and banquet info

The Boston Pizza Cornwall Men’s Basketball League playoffs are upon us, and with it we have some changes to the schedule.

Quarterfinals will now take place on Saturday April 18 at 5:15 and 6:30, with the semifinals taking place on Sunday April 19 at 6:00 and 7:15.  Finals remain Saturday April 25 at 4:00.

Banquet at Boston Pizza will follow the finals on Saturday April 25 at 7:00 pm.  All players are invited, along with a significant other.

Week 20: Rayco is the #1 seed

In the first game of the night, Rayco Team Sports continued their dominance on the league with a 59 – 48 win over Joe Lalonde Insurance.  Rayco was lead by team rep Nick Briere who had 12 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and blocked 3 shots.  Frank Bruyere scored 14 points, Jordan Amelotte & Andre Lefave each put up 13 points.

Elco Electric beat Warner Insurance 75 – 66.  Paul Rother scored 27 points and had 9 rebounds and William Grant had a great game adding 26 points in the win.  Deepaker Yoharaja represented for Warner scoring 22 points.  Carter Cook also had a double double with 15 points and 11 boards.

In the last game of the regular season, Clean All did the unthinkable for the second time this season, beating Short Line Convenience with only four players suited up to play. Clean All defeated Short Line 86 – 71. Steven Belanger had a career night in the CMBL with 40 points, hitting six 3 point shots.  He also had help from Ahmed Nima who had 23 points and Dave Franklin with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 steals.  For Short Line, Matt Hutt had 26 points, 20 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals & 3 blocks in the losing effort.  Jayson DeMary chipped in with 17 points, 8 boards and Kieran McCourt put up 15 points as the 2014 – 2015 Boston Pizza CMBL regular season came to a close.

Week 19: Playoff picture takes shape

Joe Lalonde Insurance got back in the win column with a 66 – 38 victory over Short Line Convenience, who struggled to put points up on the board.  For Joe Lalonde, Eddy Meus had a stand out performance getting to the basket for 21 points, while John Boisvenue & Joel Lariviere had 11 points respectively. Mike Blackadder scored 13 points for Short Line. Kieran McCourt had 11 points and Jayson DeMary scored 8 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Rayco Team Sports wins again, with a 57 – 49 victory over Warner Insurance. Nick Briere was huge for Rayco all across the board. He had 10 points, 13 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals, almost putting together a triple double on the night. Nate Thompson had 16 points, Andre Lefave and Jordan Amolette each had 10 points.  Warner couldn’t come up with the win, even with a full team effort.  Carter Cook scored 11 points and picked up 7 boards.  Deepaker Yoharaja had 12 points and Skyler Chretien had 9 points and 9 rebounds in a losing cause.

Elco Electric won by 16, with a 77 – 61 victory over Clean All.  Randy Canham played well with 23 points for Elco.  Lemar Jack had a double double with 17 points, 10 boards and Paul Rother added 14 for the win.  Clean All’s rookie stand out Ahmed Nima put up 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Steven Belanger had 14 points.

Week 18: Winning ways

Elco Electric beat Joe Lalonde Insurance by 20 points, with the final score of 76 – 56.  Paul Rother had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals & 4 assists for Elco. Randy Canham also scored 17 points in the win.  It was another balanced attack for Joe Lalonde Insurance in a losing effort.  John Boisvenue put in 13 points, Dave Benedict scored 9 and grabbed 6 rebounds.

In a game of short benches, Rayco Team Sports outlasted Short Line Convenience 71 – 56.  Nick Briere scored 19 points and snatched 10 boards, while Nate Thompson had 14 points and Jordan Amelotte scored 13 points in the victory. In a losing effort, Matt Hutt came through with 28 points & 18 rebounds and Mike Blackadder had 21 points, including 5 from three point land.

Clean All defeated Warner Insurance 75 – 67 in a close contest. Steve Belanger had a big game with 29 points for Clean All. Andrew Stephenson contributed 19 points and 9 rebounds as well. As for Warner Insurance, despite losing they put up a great effort.  Rob Stein scored 20 points, Skyler Chretien had a double double with 12 points and 13 boards.  In addition, Carter Cook had a solid night with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Week 17: Separating from the pack

Warner Insurance beats Joe Lalonde Insurance with a 67 – 54 win.  Balanced attack for Warner with Carter Cook coming up huge in the victory, having 19 points and 17 rebounds.  Rory Blackadder scored 18 points, while team rep Skyler Chretien put in 11 points and grabbed 15 boards.  Joe Lalonde stand outs included, Jack Chisholm with 11 points and 8 rebounds, Joel Lariviere & John Boisvenue with 10 points a piece.

Short Line Convenience crushes Elco Electric by 34, with the 91 – 57 victory.  Matt Hutt delivered for Short Line scoring 32 points and chasing down 18 rebounds.  Kieran McCourt dropped a cool 21, including 4 from behind the ark.  Mike Blackadder put in 11 points.  For Elco, Randy Canham had 10 points, Will Grant scored 12 points and as a spare, Jay McMartin helped out with 12 points.

Rayco Team Sports continued to beat the competition with an all around team effort in a 61 – 40 victory over Clean All.  Jordan Amelotte scored 15 points, Frank Bruyere put in 13 and Nate Thompson had 12 points. Nick Briere flirted with a triple double with 9 points, 8 boards and 8 dimes with the win.  In the loss, Derrick Casselman had 12 points and 9 rebounds for  Clean All, while Steven Belanger had 10 points.
